The last 12 months have been very busy within the Children Services Unit with a focus on supporting families with the new funding model, increasing attendances at the centres and improving our communication with Parents and Guardians about their child/children’s development. Within the Children Services we operate the following: Playgroup Injinoo Child Care Centre – 42 place licenced long day care centre Umagico Child Care Centre – 29 place licenced long day care centre Injinoo OSHC Centre – 29 place licenced after school and vacation care centre Umagico OSHC Centre – 30 place licenced after school and vacation care centre
Client Services Expand Program Manager - Client Services Kristen Nadredre Kristen Nadredre has served as Program Manager for Client Healing Services since 2022, bringing leadership, compassion, and a strong commitment to improving the wellbeing of individuals and families across the Northern Peninsula Area. In this role, Kristen is responsible for the management and delivery of a broad range of funded client support programs designed to enhance the quality of life for local residents. Currently, Client Healing Services oversees 12 diverse programs that support healing, safety, and empowerment within the community: NPA Women’s Shelter NPA Family Wellbeing Program Intensive Parenting Support Playgroup Domestic Violence Support – Counselling & Men’s Support Bringing Them Home (BTH) Program Youth Services Youth Engagement Support Youth Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Case Management Respectful Relationships Respectful Relationships Counselling Youth Hub Under Kristen’s leadership, these services are delivered with care, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity. She plays a key role in ensuring that programs not only meet the needs of clients but also align with funding requirements and best practice standards. A significant achievement for the team was obtaining HSQF Accreditation via self-assessment in October 2019 for all services funded by the Department of Child Safety, Women and Youth and the Department of Communities, Disability Services, highlighting the organisation’s commitment to quality and continuous improvement. Kristen is a valued member of the NPAFACS Senior Management Team, working collaboratively to drive positive change and strengthen the delivery of healing services across the region.
Health Services Expand Program Manager - Health Services Karyn Watson The Clinical Health Services team is headed up by Program Manager, Karyn Sam and consists of three main teams: Primary Health Care Services Child & Maternal Health Integrated Team Care A total of 22 staff are employed within the team.
Projects Expand Program Manager - Projects Serah Binawel To oversee all aspects of the implementation of various health projects including the Integrated Team Care Project and Remote Community Connector Project within the NPA and Torres Strait. NPAFCS operate a Home and Community based Case Management and Consultation Model of Palliative Care that is led by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker. The development of a Northern Peninsula Area (NPA) model of palliative care commenced following very generous, wise and knowledgeable specialist support from St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA). SVHA also provided financial support for on-the-ground development of this model, from July 2016 – end June 2019. Over the past 12 months, a model of care has been developed and endorsed by the Board of Directors. The program provides end and quality of life planning and engagement with/ for people diagnosed with chronic disease or diagnosed with a terminal disease in the NPA as well as care coordination of people from the NPA who access services from multiple and geographically diverse services/organisation. The Program has been supported by Reverse PEPA training from SVHA and Cairns and Hinterland HHS. Clinicians provided training to staff and community to provide a good understanding of the principles of palliative care as well as understanding the needs of patients and role in assisting them. Over the past 12 months, current indications are that the number of patients requiring Palliative Care is steadily increasing especially those ranging from 35 to 55 years. Some of the key achievements include Implementing the NPAFACS Model of Palliative Care Ensured consistent and regular case conferencing between NPA and TCHHHS Increased community awareness, engagement and use of the palliative care program Actively engaged with families in planning end of life Actively provided support for families dealing with medical and health end of life tasks, including wills, Health Directives; EPOA; financial; identification. This required working across Births, Deaths and Marriages; police; HACC; Centrelink: Lawyers: Banks; NPARC Established a presence at Medical case conferences across Queensland Health; TI; NPA Presentation at Palliative Care conference: End of Life Statewide Forum in Brisbane Presentation at the Parliamentary Inquiry into Aged Care Together with Queensland Cancer, organized and co-facilitated palliative care training for Aboriginal and Torres Islander Health Workers for NPA and Torres Organized PEPA training for all health staff in the NPA Established a register of persons who are diagnosed with Chronic Disease or a terminal illness Established a register of deceased persons together with cause of death and ages Established an assets register In December 2018, the program was awarded the 2018 Palliative Care in Queensland Award for Rural and Remote Palliative Care Team of the Year recognizing the good work done by the organization in this area. As a result of this work, seventeen families have been worked with intensively over this period and Community is now proactive in seeking palliative care services. In addition, we have received further conference presentation invitations – Perth: Oceanic Palliative Care Conference Human Rights; & Sunshine Coast 2020. The impact on the NPA is now all of the families and communities in the NPA now have a viable Palliative Care program in which they have confidence and actively use. Families engaged with this program state that they now feel more supported by GPs, Pharmacy, Queensland Health as a result of the active wrap around support they received through the case management component of this program.
CDP Expand Program Manager - Community Development Program (CDP), Assets & Maintenance Sajida Nona Sajida Nona joined the NPAFACS Senior Management Team in February 2025 and is the newest member of the leadership team. She brings strong operational insight and a practical, community-focused approach to managing both the Community Development Program (CDP) and the Assets & Maintenance team. Sajida oversees the delivery of the CDP, a Federal Government-funded initiative aimed at helping remote job seekers transition from welfare into employment. NPA Family and Community Services has been the lead provider for the Northern Peninsula Area since 1 July 2019, following a Joint Venture with My Pathway established in 2018. This partnership enabled a full review of local employment services, staffing structures, and long-term strategic planning for the program. With around 20 staff across three service areas, the CDP team supports jobseekers through various entry points, including referrals from the Department of Human Services, transfers from other regions, or direct engagement at the CDP office. Under Sajida’s leadership, the team works to connect individuals with employment opportunities and strengthen local workforce capacity. In her Assets & Maintenance role, Sajida is responsible for managing and maintaining the organisation’s infrastructure, including 13 buildings, 15 staff accommodations, and a fleet of 42 vehicles. Her responsibilities also span IT systems, cleaning services, Workplace Health & Safety, and transport coordination. Recent focus areas for the team include: IT infrastructure upgrades and system enhancements Ongoing repair and maintenance of hardware and facilities Yard and vehicle maintenance WHS and accommodation audits across all sites Cleaning of offices, centres, and accommodation facilities In-kind support for community events, including funerals. Sajida’s commitment to operational excellence and her understanding of local needs make her a valuable asset to NPAFACS. Her work ensures both the effective delivery of employment services and the smooth functioning of essential infrastructure across the organisation.
Human Resources & Organisational Development Expand Program Manager - Human Resources & Organisational Development Laura Perry Laura Perry commenced her role as Program Manager for Human Resources and Organisational Development in July 2023 and brings over six years of dedicated service to our organisation. With a strong background in Human Resources, Training, and Quality Systems Management, Laura now leads a committed team focused on strengthening organisational capability and supporting continuous improvement across our services. In her role, Laura oversees a broad portfolio including employee relations, recruitment, learning and development, compliance, media and communications, executive support services, and the management of the Neighbourhood Centre. As a key member of NPAFACS’ Senior Management Team, Laura plays an integral role in supporting both executive leadership and management. Her strategic insight, collaborative approach, and deep understanding of our organisation’s values and goals make her a vital contributor to our continued growth and success.
Financial Services Expand Program Manager - Financial Services Jasmine Bond Jasmine Bond brings nine years of experience and commitment to her role as Program Manager for Financial Services at NPAFACS. Throughout her career with the organisation, she has built a strong foundation by working across several key areas including Human Resources, Finance, Children’s Services, and Assets and Maintenance, before returning to lead the Finance team. In her current role, Jasmine is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring that financial controls, systems, and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained. She works closely with an off-site accountant to manage payroll, creditors, debtors, and debt management processes, supporting the organisation's financial health and strategic goals. Jasmine contributes to defining the organisation’s short and long-term financial objectives and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines. She also supervises the finance team on a daily basis, providing guidance and oversight to ensure proper procedures are followed across all financial activities. Grateful for the diverse opportunities provided by NPAFACS, Jasmine values the experience she has gained across different sectors and brings a well-rounded perspective to her leadership role. She is a key member of the Senior Management Team and plays an integral role in supporting the organisation’s continued growth and stability.
